Delta Phi Upsilon Fraternity, Inc. was founded on January 15, 1985 on the campus of Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida Since then we have grown to 215+ initiated members and have 5 active chapters across the country. These individuals have accepted the challenge of Delta Phi Upsilon Fraternity, Inc. to “Build Better Brothers” by:

  • Embracing the principles of the his fellow Delta brother, treating all those they encounter with honesty and respect;
  • Working diligently in the pursuit of their education, understanding that they are students first and that the quest for knowledge is an endeavor which lasts a lifetime;
  • Meeting all of their obligations to the Fraternity in a timely manner, as to ensure that they are doing their share and they are not a burden to their brothers;
  • Engaging in the service to our kind, not for the praise or recognition that such service may bring, but because it is the right thing to do.
The commitment to Delta Phi Upsilon Fraternity, Inc. does not end when an undergraduate brother graduates. Membership in Delta Phi Upsilon Fraternity, Inc. is for life and our brothers continue to stay involved and support this fraternity through a variety of chapter events, serving as chapter advisers or committee members, regional directors, or becoming a member of the Executive Council, or providing financial support to the Fraternity’s educational endeavors through the Delta Phi Upsilon Endowment Fund.

We are very proud of our Fraternity, our history, our tradition of service, our members, and our programs.

If you have any questions about Delta Phi Upsilon Fraternity, Incorporated, please feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,
Darryl L. Wilson, Jr.

The organization’s particular purpose is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards among gay men of color. Its vision is for gay men of color to have their own bond of brotherhood on college campuses everywhere.

At the time, this was greatly desired by many black gay men who had for so long felt the sting of rejection from the more traditional black fraternities. By 1988, the fraternity had grown to include chapters in the states of Florida and Georgia. Our chapters and colonies can be found in various cities throughout the United States with our presence apparent in all communities.

During our recruitment process, we will be looking for quality gay men of color who welcome the challenges of starting a new journey and “Reaching the World through Service to Our Kind.” Delta seeks men who value and exhibit academic excellence, leadership opportunities, service to the community, and unconditional brotherhood. We are interested in men who not only desire success, but who, like our early members, continuously strive to fulfill their visions. Each year, more men join the Delta journey “Destined for Greatness” and we extend the invitation to you.
